Donnie Holcomb, President of Mountaineer Automotive selected PrayWorks as the owner’s representative for the comprehensive redevelopment of their Ford Lincoln dealership located in Beckley, West Virginia. Holcomb trusted Dave Pray due to his extensive industry knowledge, construction background, and expertise in Lean Construction.

The project is the first business of its kind in West Virginia to apply Lean Construction. From the start, the project was challenging.  Lean Construction is a leading-edge construction methodology that breaks down traditional silos between builders, contractors, and trade partners. All parties are brought on board early in the project and work together to accomplish integrated, efficient planning and execution.” As an owner, the Lean Construction process that Dave Pray was able to deliver was much less stressful in regards to working with contractors, subcontractors, and professionals; and in developing the plan and project objectives,” explained Holcomb.

Design and construction partners have also expressed appreciation for the process. PrayWorks selected Branch & Associates’ Roanoke, Virginia office, as the contractor and Columbus based Architectural Alliance to lead the design team. Cathy Underwood, President of Branch & Associates, remarked, 

“The opportunity to drive waste out of the process and become more efficient, hands on and collaborative is a very attractive proposition, compared to traditional methods.” – Cathy Underwood

John Oney, President of Architectural Alliance, the project’s lead designer added, “Lean Construction takes team relationships between designers, contractors, trade partners to a next level, where you get everyone involved. It’s very exciting.”

The entire team appreciated PrayWorks role in making the project more productive and less stressful for the owner, contractor and design team. For Mountaineer Automotive, PrayWorks leadership and Lean Construction methods kept the project on budget and ahead of schedule. At the conclusion of the project, Holcomb anticipated using PrayWorks again. With several projects on the boards, Holcomb hired PrayWorks to execute the FritoLay project for Ratrie Realty, of which he is president.
